Window in memory of Florence Emily Hodgkinson d1896. Below the feet of the crucified Christ is an impaled red serpent, representing sin. The message: Jesus died for our sins. On the right is St Mary Blessed Virgin in blue and white; on the left is St John the Evangelist, always portrayed as a young man. Before the Reformation, all three would have been present as large figurines of wood, set above the chancel screen on a gallery called the rood loft. (Photo Jun 2010).
