Cottage, C17, rubble stone with stone slate roof, end stacks and
pebbledashed south end wall. 1 1/2 storeys with 6-panel door, 6-pane
window to left in former door with brick jambs, 4-light timber-
mullion window to right with eaves hipped dormer over. North end
has lean-to with hipped roof. Projecting pantiled outbuilding,
now garage to front. Rear wall has 4-light timber-mullion window
with cambered brick head. House is said to have beam dated 1651
within and deeds of 1649 and 1662 survive, when house was owned by
the Usher family and called Shaell's House.
