Methodist school and attached chapel, now meeting room and hall. School
early C19, chapel dated 1839 on north side; altered. Coursed squared
sandstone, with roofs of slate and stone slate. L-plan, with school set back
and facing road; chapel attached at right-hand end, gable to road.
School: rectangular plan; single-storey, and 5 bays, symmetrical; altered
doorway in the centre and 2 windows on a higher level on each side, all
round-headed with imposts and keystones, the doorway now with jambs only to
the upper half, the windows with raised sills and dressed heads but without
jambs, and sashed, with glazing bars (arched in the upper leaf); small gutter
brackets; hipped roof; similar windows in rear and at left end.
Chapel has 4 larger but similar windows, dressed jambs to the 2nd, and above
this window a carved stone plaque with scrolled surround, inscribed:-

"This Wesleyan
Methodist Chapel
was Erected by
Voluntary
Subscription
1839"

(Later addition to front of right-hand end not included in the item). Five
similar windows in rear wall. Interiors of both parts altered.
