9/137 Former Corn Mill
- building at
Dickinson's Auto Spares,
Corn Mill Fold
- II

Water-powered corn mill, now store. Built between 1772 and 1787 by William
Wright. Coursed squared sandstone with quoins, stone slate roofs. L-shaped
plan formed by inter-linked blocks at right-angles. Three and two storeys.
East block, on north-south axis, probably the mill, 3-storeys and 3 bays,
has square 2-light windows with slightly-recessed flat-faced mullions,
irregularly arranged and mostly blocked at the lower levels, 3 at the top
level now boarded; quoined vertical joint between 2nd and 3rd bays up to
1st floor level, some anciently-blocked windows to the right of this, and a
slit-breather. South gable has garage doorway at ground floor, a 2-light
window to 2nd floor, a similar window in the apex of the gable with stacked
pigeon-holes and perching ledges above it. South block, (partly overlapping
this gable), 2 storeys and 3 bays, has a segmental-arched wagon entrance in
the centre, 2 blocked loading doors above, blocked 2-light windows on
3 levels to the right and to the left a doorway at ground floor and
2 vertically-aligned vertical-rectangular blocked windows to the left of
this, all these with plain surrounds. Vertical joint near left corner, and
remains of wall of formerly abutting building.
