House, latterly partly used as stables, now house and shop. Probably
late C17 with later additions and alterations. Timber framed with
painted brick infill and additions, part rendered; graded slate roofs.
L-plan consisting of 2 ranges, each of 2 framed bays, with single-
bay addition to right of west range and roofs rebuilt late C18 or early
C19. One storey and attic with dentilled eaves cornice to rear of
west range and to north range. Framing: exposed to west range; square
panels, 3 from cill to original wall-plate with one rectangular panel
above and long and short straight tension braces; left gable end has
apparently raised tie beam and queen-posts. C20 casements and fixed-
light windows in panels of framing, one to left and 2 to right of C20
gabled brick porch over C19 plank door; C20 French window to right.
Two C20 gabled dormers breaking eaves. Tall red brick ridge stack
to left of centre and integral lateral stack to front on right. Shallow
gabled projection to right gable end has late C19 pilastered shop front
with moulded entablature. North range: late C20 windows to left and
right of roughly central door with C20 gabled eaves dormers to left
and right. C19 single-storey brick lean-to in angle between ranges.
Interior: timber frame (square panels) fragmentarily exposed throughout
to both ranges, including to cross walls. Left ground-floor room
of west range has chamfered ceiling beam and exposed joists; large
stack with partly infilled inglenook fireplace. Queen-post roof in
2 bays to each range.
