SK 1615-1715 ALREWAS KINGS BROMLEY ROAD

box and store) at
south-west corner
of farmyard to Manor
Farm

Stable now loose-box and store. Probably early C18; altered and
extended C19. Yellowish brick in English bond; Staffordshire blue
tile roof. 2 storeys, 3 bays with later lean-to addition to rear.
Brick plinth. East side (facing farmyard) has broad doorway with
segmental arch to right of 2 segmentally-arched casement windows
in the positions of former mullioned windows of which fragments
of the lintels and sills survive; wooden-framed taking-in door
to 1st floor centre. Left return: segmentally-arched doorway to
right; altered window to gable has remains of ashlar surround;
Kneeler to eaves on left. Interior: transverse oak beams with
stopped chamfers; oak common joists. Internal steps to 1st floor.
Principal-rafter trusses to each gable have collars plus vertical
and diagonal struts. The internal trusses with curved principal
rafters having collars supported by brace posts and with vertical
and diagonal struts above. 2 purlins to each slope, straight
wind-braces. Included for group value.
