Stables and Methodist chapel,later undertaker's premises, now outbuildings to
Whitfield House, Front Street (q.v.) and joinery workshop. 1776 for the
Wolsingham Methodist Society. Coursed sandstone rubble with ashlar quoins and
dressings; roofs of pantiles with stone flags at eaves in parts. 2 storeys;
6 bays in all, stepped back. Left part has boarded vehicle door under loft
door; pantiled and flagged roof. Joinery shop adjoining, former chapel,has
sliding vehicle door with external saddle rack and harness hooks, and at right
a blocked door with stone surround; flat stone lintels and sills to 2-light
horizontal sliding sashes above. Right part has 2 doors, the left blocked and
a window inserted, with flat stone surrounds;similar surrounds, one pecked
lintel and one wedge lintel to sliding sashes at right and loft openings above;
quoins to this part, those at left repeated from previous narrower front.
Historical note: John Wesley preached in this chapel.
