Pair of estate cottages: 1844 for George Walmesley, with C20
alterations to the fenestration. Ashlar buff sandstone, Welsh slate
roof, 3 stone chimneys with octagonal stacks. 2-storey, symmetrical,
5-bay front. Hammer-dressed plinth and raised quoins. Central bay
projects under bulbous-coped gable on kneelers. Pair of mid-hinged
windows divided by a mullion and under a label mould below, single
window above. Diamond-shaped cusped light in the gable. End bays
have similar windows and 2nd and 4th bays have projecting porches with
4-centred arched entrances and half-glazed doors behind. End gables
also have bulbous coping.
These were 2 of a terrace of 9, said to be in the Swiss style by a
contemporary directory.
