House. Mid C17, c1840 and c1900. Rubblestone, end walls rendered, with some
dressed stone. Steeply pitched Collyweston stone slate roof with end
parapets on kneelers of moulded stone. Wood eaves cornice. End stacks of
dressed stone, square, with entablature, late C17. Two storeys and attic.
Three gabled dormers, each with possibly original leaded light casements.
Ovolo moulded mullions and surrounds to three, three-light casements and one
single light window. The ground floor windows have renewed stone surrounds.
Doorway with early C19 pedimented doorcase of reeded engaged columns with
plain entablature. Six panelled door of two flush and four raised and
fielded panels. Fanlight with glazing bars. C19 cast iron railings to
front. Single storey rear range c1840. Brick with cement tiled roof and
some original casements in pointed arches. In c1900 a wing parallel to the
mid C17 front range was added. Stone with mainly slate roof except for gable
end with Collyweston stone slates. Inside: The original dining-room and
parlour are both panelled. The parlour was remodelled in c1900 when the
hearth was removed and a window to the street was blocked. The panelling in
two heights with the panels divided by fluted pilasters is still intact. A
first floor room is also panelled and has an original bolection moulded
fireplace surround.
