Farmhouse. C17/C18 but with medieval origins. Ham stone roughly cut and squared, with ashlar to south end and bay
window; thatched roof with half-hip to north, coped gable to south; stone slab chimney stacks with traditional baffle
tops. Single-storey with attic, 4 bays. Bay 1 has a 2-storey angled bay window with coped gable on shaped kneelers,
with gabletted finial and weathervane, having 1+3+1 light hollow-chamfer mullioned windows; similar mullioned windows
under separate labels, of 2 lights, to bay 2 and 3-lights to bays 3 and 4; bays 3 and 4 have 3-light attic casement
windows; all windows rectangular-leaded: between bays 3 and 4 a boarded door with glazed panel, protected by deep
rustic timber and thatched porch. On north gable a further leaded timber casement, and an old boarded door at first
floor level approached by a flight of stone steps. Later extension to rear. Interior not seen, but reported is a
cross-passage 3-room plan, some deep-chamfer beams, with 9-panel ceiling to the hall, which has a cambered-arch
fireplace: the roof structure a mixture of jointed crucks and post-and-truss structures at north end, probably remains
of a hall house; one chimney dated 1688; the bay window a reused example from Bower Hinton. To rear a small C19
addition which could be a horse engine house. (VAG Report, SRO Unpublished, October 1977).
