Early-mid C19 symmetrical scheme in Tudor-cum-Jacobean style. Group of 3 in centre
flanked by straight pairs with outer blocks beyond, slightly unbalanced because
the east block (No 30) is a single house, the west has No 21 offset behind No 22.
Linking walls between blocks. Each house 2 storeys, attic and basement, 1 window
in main bay and one in narrow set back entrance bay. Stock brick with stucco dressings.
Higpotched, tiled roofs with grouped diagonal brick chimneys. Shaped gable ends
with stuccoed copings and brick kneelers. Stucco window surrounds some with hoodmoulds
Ground floor and 1st floor centre projecting square or canted bays. All windows
sashes with fancy lozenge glazing. 6-panel doors, with patterned rectangular fanlights,
set back under plain hoods.
Nos 1to l0 (consec), Nos 13 to 30 (consec) and the railings around the Square form
a group with No 89 Mortimer Road.
