Farmhouse. Probably C17, altered in C20. Thinly coursed rubble; asbestos
slate, corrugated iron and stone slate roof. C20 brick gable end chimneys.
L-plan longhouse derivative. Two-bay cross-wing at south end of 2-bay north/
south range which extends to north as byre (1 bay) and later C19 cow house
and loft (also one bay); C20 lean-to in re-entrant angle and to part of south
flank of cross-wing. East elevation: wide gable to left with rebuilt chimney,
small stair-light to left and wider (former 5-light mullioned) window to right,
raking-top dormer in return; north/south range has C20 rebuilt walling, raking-
top dormer, 3-light casement to ground floor with concrete lintol and C20
gabled porch to right. The cow-byre extension with tin roof has a blocked
doorway with a slab-hood and to the right, the present door; to the right
again, a C20 window with concrete lintol; the right hand bay (under stone
slate roof) is slightly taller and has a loft door. South flank has a depressed
2-centred arch head doorway at west end; there is another at west entrance to
cow byre (now masked by later buildings). Interior: one pair of cruck blades,
truncated below collar level in byre just north of its junction with domestic
part; formerly a plank and muntin screen divided the 2 bays of the cross-wing;
diamond section mullion slots in window opening at first floor level between
the 2 byres; similar slots in opening for 4-light window in ground floor west
wall of south byre.
