Circa 1830/40. Substantial house of three storeys yellow brick.
Stuccoed ground floor with banded rustication. Gable end slate roof,
the eaves hidden by stucco blocking course and cornice. Cornice
over ground floor. Three windows, recessed, sash, later glazing bars,
stucco architrave surrounds with block sills and consoles to second
floor windows, and entablatures over first floor windows. Ground
floor windows similar with block sills, addition of recessed semi
circular window, place high up to East, with radial glazing bars.
Recessed door of four moulded panels with fine brass lion head knocker.
Narrow rectangular fanlight over. The entrance is flanked by broad
stucco pilaster strips on pedestals with heavy Doric brackets with
guttae, a dentil band returned to wall and over door, below a projecting
cornice band. Blind rendered bay separates No 9 from No 10.
