Two shops. Mid C19. Pink and cream mottled brick in English
garden-wall bond, with orange-red brick quoins and timber
eaves band; slate roof, hipped at corner, with brick stacks to
left of hip and at centre of right return. Castlegate front: 2
storeys and attic; 3 windows. Entrance to No.10 in canted
corner at right: half-glazed and panelled double doors with
overlight. Similar single door and overlight to No.12 to left,
between plate-glass shop windows with transoms. Ground floor
openings are segment-headed beneath brick arches. First floor
windows are 4-pane sashes with painted stone sills, beneath
flat arches of brick. Flat eaves band. Gabled dormer with
4-pane sash to No.12. Wells Lane front: 2 storeys and attic; 4
windows. Round-arched passage door at right end, with blocked
window opening to left; further left, two 12-pane sash
windows. At left end segment-headed 6-pane shop window with
transom, between tall round-arched niches with chamfered stone
sills. Remaining details repeat those of Castlegate front.
