Early C19 pair of small houses and shops. Possible refronting of earlier
building. 2 storeys stucco faced. Gable end slate roof with moulded
eaves. 2 windows each on 1st floor, recessed sashes, glazing bars intact,
one bowed on No 4 (Holmes Butchers). No 4 retains original butchers C19
shop front though it has been glazed in (glazing bars have been used to
retain period character). Projecting counter with brass name plate end
brass column support to projecting moulded blind case and heavy moulded
cornice. Original shop door with 2 flush panels, the upper part slatted
for ventilation. (Double doors to right are to be converted to bow window).
The shop front of No 5 is late C19 modernised.
