4/16 Rookery Farmhouse

Farmhouse. Part medieval core, raised and extended c.1600. Renovated c.1972.
Timber framed and rendered under a pantiled roof. 2 storeys. A single long
range. 4 windows, mid C20 standard casements without glazing bars. Lobby
entrance with mid-late C19 flat-roofed porch and mid C20 glazed door. A
further similar door to left. Internal stack with mid-late C19 panelled white
brick shaft. Older core (to left) comprises service end, the walls raised
over one metre, probably when hall and parlour cells added. One ground floor
service room has re-used bridging beam and heavy plain joists. Hall has axial
bridging beam with 2 ovolo moulds and ornate leaf stops with enriched bar.
Ovolo bridging beam in hall chamber. Plain first floor studding in both
phases. Some C16-C17 internal doors. Roof not examined.
