House, dated 1691. Brick, with some stone quoins, stone slate roof with
projecting eaves and bargeboards. Probably originally of 3-bay central
baffle-entry plan, with the 1st bay removed and cross wing added in front
of 3rd bay. C19 shooting lodge added at rear left hand corner with
monopitched stair projection in re-entrant. Entry now in right-wall of
cross wing. Two storeys; facade has 2-storey gabled porch with stone
quoins to ground floor, blocked doorway with stone lintel lettered
"IS 1692", a window above it and a blocked peephole in left side wall.
Sliding-sash windows: one long Flight window left of porch at ground
floor, a 2-light window above it. Left return wall has window in blocked
doorway at ground floor, and a blocked former doorway with wooden lintel
on 1st floor above it. Right return wall, formed by side of wing and
re-built gable-end of main block has central door (a blocked former door
to the right of it), 3 ground floor windows and 4 first floor windows,
all casements with segmental brick heads. Rear wall, buttressed and
blind in centre, has 2 ground floor windows on the left, and one tall
casement on the right, a small sliding sash above it; all these have
segmental brick heads. Interior: house part has inglenook with large
bressummer, ovolo-moulded on the face, and slightly arched; 2 axial
bridging beams ovolo-moulded and stopped.
