Post Office and Brampton House

House, now post office. Mid C18 with mid C19 alterations and
rear additions. Painted render with painted plinth and ashlar
dressings. Main roof graduated Lakeland slate with stone gable
copings and rendered chimneys; roof of No.2 has stone slates.
Double-span main house at left has 3 storeys; 4-window range;
No.2 at right of 2 storeys; one-window range. Main house has
renewed 6-panel door in painted stone architrave in second
bay; similar architraves and projecting stone sills to renewed
4-pane sashes on upper floors, those on second floor smaller,
and renewed window to left of door with copper-sheet front to
posting box inserted below plain light. Flanking mid C19
canted bay windows have 4-pane sashes, the left with stamp
machine inserted. No.2 to right has renewed 6-panel door and
plain overlight at left, renewed 4-pane sashes with painted
flat stone lintels and projecting stone sills at right. Main
roof double-span with stone gable copings, moulded stone
kneelers, and corniced end chimneys to each range; roof of
No.2 has tall right end rendered chimney. Left return to Flatt
Road has renewed door and plain sashes in rear range, and left
addition of one storey, one window, with stone-mullioned
canted bay window under hipped roof.
