Clock Tower and attached railings

GV II

Clock tower. 1912. Built to commemorate the coronation of
George V. Ashlar; cast iron railings. Baroque style. Moulded
plinth and recessed Tuscan angle pilasters; deep pierced
frieze and cornice with blocking course; eared panels to sides
have inscriptions relating to time; narrow entrance with
6-fielded-panel door; plaque recording erection to rear; round
clock faces project into frieze, with hoods and keystones, and
festoons beneath. Iron railings with simple decorative frieze
surround the tower. An important landmark in the centre of
Tettenhall.
