House, now old peoples' residence. Late C18; 1820s rear wing
with late C19 addition. Roughcast brick; tile roofs with brick
stacks. Double-depth plan. 2 storeys; 6-window range.
Modillioned eaves; ground floor has two 12-pane horned sashes,
3 narrow sashes and 2 casement windows; 1st floor has 4-pane
horned sashes, that above entrance with narrow flanking
windows. Entrance has consoled cornice and overlight to paired
panelled doors; 2 cross-axial stacks and lateral stack. Right
return has hipped bow window. Rear has 4-window early C19
range; hipped roof with wide eaves; 2 horned sashes and 2
French windows; late C19 range to right has hipped roof with
gablet; bowed 1st floor oriel with leaded glazing to window.
INTERIOR: rear rooms with cornices and fireplaces; front range
has stair with turned balusters; late C19 alterations: heavy
chamfered posts and beams, ingle fireplace. The home of Edward
Banks, a notable C19 Wolverhampton architect.
