GV II

House, now old people's residential home. c1840 with later
alterations. Stuccoed brick; hipped slate roof with stuccoed
stacks. Double-depth plan. 2 storeys; symmetrical 5-window
garden front with narrow extension to left end. Chanelled
rustication to ground floor; 1st floor sill band; top frieze
and cornice; quoin strips. Ground floor has French window with
flanking canted bays; 1st floor has windows in architraves
with apron panels and 4-pane sashes; verandah on cast-iron
columns has openwork frieze and swept roof; cross-axial stack
with round shafts with cornices. Returns and rear similar;
left return has later windows; right return has projecting
ingle type breast, porch with round-headed entrance and
4-fielded-panelled door; rear has recessed stair window and
entrance; lateral stack. INTERIOR: stained glass to stair
window and rear room with Shakespearian characters; moulded
frieze and ceiling;rococo plaster ceiling to drawing room; mid
C18 cornices.
