House. c1845. Limestone ashlar with ashlar ridge stacks and
slate roof with a hip behind the right-hand gable.
Double-depth plan. Tudor Revival style. 2 storeys; 5-window
range.
3 irregular sections, each stepping slightly forward of that
to the left. The central gabled one has a left-hand porch with
a shouldered gable and Tudor-arched doorway, and a similar
4-panel door set back within it; the gable has round Tudor
finials with diagonal patterning, that to the right at the top
of a narrow buttress.
The windows have Tudor-arched heads to casements with a
horizontal glazing bar, and label moulds. The middle gable has
a 3-light ground-floor window beneath a canted 4-light oriel.
The right-hand gable has a narrow full-height bay with 3
lights, without labels; either side of the gable are
single-light windows, those to the right being blind. The
left-hand gable has 3-light windows to ground and first
floors; a matching gable in the left return.
INTERIOR: large hall flagged with Portland stone, 3 arched
recesses in the right wall with a fireplace in the middle,
square piers to 4-centre arches separating the rear open-well
stair, which has stone treads, cast-iron balusters and twisted
newels; large stained-glass stair window to the rear; 4-panel
doors and shutters; the left-hand room has a pendant ceiling
rose and folding doors at the end to a conservatory.
