farmbuildings at
Cheaveley Hall Farm.

L-shaped range of farmbuildings: mid-late C19 probably by
John Douglas for 1st Duke of Westminster. Orange brick below and
timber framed upper storey. Red tile roof. L-shaped plan on 2 sides
of cobbled yard.
South-west front of south-west range of 1 and 2 storeys and 16 bays.
Centrepiece is barn of 2 storeys and 5 bays (2:1:2). Brick mullioned
windows in lower storey, wood mullioned windows in timber-framed upper
storey. Central rectangular cart opening with stone spur stones.
Gable loading bay oversails on brackets from stone corbels. On ridge
is a 2-tier circular dovecote with lead flashing, a pyramidal shingled
roof and a weather vane. Long shippon to left of one storey with
small pane windows and left end 2 bays under a gable. To rear are 3
timber-framed gables with entry into shippons.
Interior: a continuous feeding passage runs around the back of the
barn and along the range with a Gothic arched feeding hole to each
pair of stalls.
North-west front of north-west range of 1 and 2 storeys and 10 bays.
Left end bay has gabled loading bay above and is next to tall driftway
with a gabled hood. Remainder in brick with small-pane windows and
ventilation patterns, part has sawtooth band at 1st floor.
