Farmhouse.

GV II

Farmhouse: dated 1887 by John Douglas for the 1st Duke of
Westminster. Ruabon red brick with red sandstone dressings and some
timberframing in upper storey. L-shaped plan. 2-storey 4-bay west
front. Stone plinth. Right end bay projects under gable with timber
framed upper storey with round-headed panels and curved bracing.
3-light wooden mullioned and transomed window. Upper-storey on wooden
brackets over canted lower storey with small ogee-headed lights under
a continuous label mould. Central 2 bays have a porch with a
segmental stone doorcase with date and initials on the lintel. To
right and above in gabled dormer are windows of 2 ogee-headed lights.
Left end bay has blue brick diapering and an inserted C20 window.
Interior: original oak turned baluster staircase but remainder
somewhat altered.

In picturesque position, especially from Eccleston side of the river,
and alongside the historic crossing point.
