Lodge, 1883, by John Douglas for 1st Duke of Westminster. 2 storey
picturesque red brick lodge with timber-framing and red tile roof.
Circular parlour to north-west surmounted by corbelled half-timbered
octagonal bedroom capped with blunt spire with swept tiling above
eaves. Sandstone band and lintels. Moulded hard brick mullions,
reveals and cills. Battered brick plinth. Shaped central red brick
chimney. Recessed yellow brick panels with moulded hard red brick
surrounds and gothic blank arch detailing to upper storey. Tile
ridges; shaped tiles to hips; shaped lead finials to spire and ridge
ends. Shaped boarded front door with ornamental wrought iron hinges
under basket arch opening in hip-roofed porch. Iron casements with
leaded glazing.
Interior: 6-panel doors with moulded stiles and rails. Staircase
with moulded square newel and moulded rectangular balusters.
Hip-roofed wash-house with small chimney and closet across walled
yard. Boarded doors. Later single storey tile-roofed extension to
south, in keeping, for bathroom and coalhouse.
