Terraced row of 5 small town houses. c.1840-45; altered. Red
brick in Flemish bond, with sandstone dressings and slate
roof. Double-depth plan, each house single-fronted, with
coupled back extensions. Two storeys over cellars, a 9-window
range, with stone plinth, band, plain frieze and moulded
gutter cornice; doorways to the right, with moulded
architraves and cornices on consoles; windows with raised
sills, those at ground floor with flat-arched heads, and all
with altered glazing. No.36 St Austin's Road has
double-fronted facade, with blind windows to the left and over
door, those at 1st floor rendered. Roof hipped at right-hand
end, with ridge chimneys (mostly slightly cut down). Rear and
INTERIORS not inspected. Forms group with Nos 26-30 (q.v.),
Nos 30-34 St Austin's Road (q.v.), and with Church of St
Augustine and its presbytery opposite (q.v.).
