Brick kiln

II*

Pinnacle kiln. C19. Brick with wrought-iron bands. Conical
structure with low lean-to buildings surrounding it. INTERIOR:
baffle wall added later to convert to a down-draft system.
History: an important remnant of a vast C19 industry supplying
ornamental bricks, terracotta architectural ornaments and many
variations of the pantile, known as Bridgwater tiles, which
were exported, often as ballast, all over the world.
