Pair of houses in row. Mid C19. Painted brick with stucco
details; asbestos slate roof; deep brick chimneys over the
cross walls. Pair of mirror-image plans with parallel entrance
halls together in the centre: each house has reception room at
the front and service room behind. 2 storeys over basement;
symmetrical 4-window first-floor range to 1:1:1-bay front.
Terminal quoin strips and consoles to eaves cornice; raised
central bay has moulded hood on console brackets over mid C20
door (11) and original panelled door with overlight (12), and
pair of horned 8-pane sashes set in raised and eared
architraves with flanking rusticated quoin strips. Tripartite
sashes with glazing bars to outer bays set in eared and raised
segmental-arched architraves, with bracketed cornices to
ground floor. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: shallow basement forecourts
have front retaining walls which are surmounted by iron
railings with fleur-de-lis finials.
