GV II

Former house, now shops and offices. Late C16 or early C17.
Timber-framed and rendered with gabled plain tile roofs. Front
has plain parapet and early C19 painted timber cornice with
paired modillions. First floor has 3 tripartite double-hung
sash windows with small panes and large projecting plaster
panels. Ground floor has 3 C20 shop fronts with fascias and
hardwood shop windows and recessed C20 door to first floor.
Rear has 3 gables with decorative barge-boards and single
storey flat roofed C20 painted brick extension. Long
wall-jettied timber-framed former house with unarticulated
cross-wing at N end which forms the northernmost rear gable.
Both roofs have clasped side purlins and arched wind bracing.
Some jowls visible on first floor. Front wall had series of
oriels and frieze windows with moulded mullions (viewed during
recent renovation and now again concealed).
