House. C18 and early C19. Timber frame and rendered with
pebbledashed front and large span gabled clay plain tile roof.
2 storeys and attics.
EXTERIOR: front has 2 flat-roofed dormers with 2-light C19
casements each with a single horizontal glazing bar. Large
eaves overhang with boxing of probable former coving and
gutter on long metal gutter brackets. First floor has 2 large
tripartite double-hung sash windows with small panes. Ground
floor has 4 flush double-hung sash windows with small panes
and central moulded door surround incorporating rectangular
fanlight with margin glazing variant of alternate narrow and
square glass panes. 6 raised-and-fielded panel door and 2
stone steps. Rear has large extensions and central 3-storey
stair tower now part buried in later 2-storey parallel pitched
roof block. Stair tower originally had hipped roof.
INTERIOR: very complete C18 interior with southern
ground-floor room panelled with moulded surrounds and dado
rail. Eared architraved fire surround with dentilled cornice
mantel. Central ground-floor corridor with panelled partitions
and arch near rear with panelled pilasters and ogee keystone.
Other front room has simple plaster cornice and reeded fire
surround. One eaved fire surround on first floor. Dogleg C18
staircase with moulded handrail and barley-sugar balusters in
apparently contemporary stair tower as No.31 (qv).
