GV II

Two houses, formerly single dwelling, early C19. Red
Flemish-bond brickwork and gabled clay plain tile roof with 2
hipped clay plain tile roofs and rear forming double pile. 2
storeys and attics. 2 flat-roofed casement dormers behind
plain parapet and large rectangular stack through roof slope
at NW gable end.
EXTERIOR: first floor has a flush double-hung sash window with
small panes and slightly arched rubbed brick head, either side
of a narrower central blind window opening with similar arch.
Ground floor of No.25 has early C19 shop front with narrow
panelled pilasters carrying simple entablature/fascia and flat
hood. Door is C20 with plain rectangular fanlight. Shop front
has one similar double-hung sash window and original entrance
with semicircular brick arch on painted impost blocks. Door
has 6 raised-and-fielded panels, architrave with reeded panels
and Adamesque semicircular fanlight.
INTERIOR: No.26 has painted softwood spine beams, many
contemporary doors with thin moulded architraves. First-floor
room has segmental-arched headed recesses either side of
projecting fireplace.
