House. c1770. Roughcast with limestone dressings, brick
lateral stacks and a pantile roof. Single-depth plan.
3 storeys; 3-window range. Symmetrical front with 2-storey
wings; central C20 porch with Doric columns and pediment, door
with 6 fielded panels and a rectangular overlight. Canted
2-storey bays each side with 6/6 pane sashes in flush boxes
and wrought-iron railings on top. The middle windows have 3
stepped voussoirs to 6/6 pane sashes, and 5 stepped voussoirs
to the second floor windows, with 3/6 pane sashes. Plate-glass
sashes in the wings. Canted oriel in left return, with 6/6
sash, apron below and parapet above. C19 extensions at rear.
INTERIOR: central hall and dogleg stair, panelled wainscot,
similar panelling in front rooms, and some surviving panelled
shutters.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: rusticated piers with gabled caps and
steps up to garden doorway, with stone piers and a heavy
panelled lintel. The loss of details such as pineapple finials
has reduced its quality.
