Includes return into Fairmantle Street. Pair of town houses at
end of row. c1803. By Randell, builder. Granite ashlar
basement, otherwise coursed dressed local stone with some
granite dressings; pair of dry Delabole slate hips behind
parapets plus slate-hung gable behind left-hand hip.
Double-depth-plan pair, similar at the front. 2 storeys over
basement; nearly symmetrical 1:1:1- bay front. Nearly central
pair of doorways set within porch formed by first-floor canted
stuccoed bay window, with horned sashes under a moulded
parapet cornice, carried on 2 slender Tuscan columns; within
the porch are 2 x 6-panel doors under a blind elliptical
fanlight; flanking 1-window fronts with shallow segmental
arches with projecting key blocks, mid-floor strings and
moulded parapets; probably original 20-pane sashes to No.30
(left), later 4-pane horned sashes to No.31. INTERIOR: No.31
has many original carpentry and joinery details and some
plaster ceiling cornices. No.30 not inspected. SUBSIDIARY
FEATURES: pair of stepped bridges either side of porch with
balustrade, step and forecourt railings plus central basement
steps.
