Villa, now shop. Early C19. Probably by Philip Sambell for
Josephus Ferris, developer. Stucco on masonry; asbestos slate
hipped roof with deep eaves. Square double-depth plan plus
service wing behind the left-hand side. 2 storeys; symmetrical
3-window entrance and garden fronts have plinths, panelled
quoin pilasters, moulded architraves and widely-spaced eaves
brackets. Entrance front has central doorway with anthemion
and C20 door; blind windows on the right. Garden front has
central round-headed niche to ground floor and plate glass to
flanking openings, otherwise there are original hornless
sashes with glazing bars. INTERIOR: original plaster ceiling
cornices to garden-front rooms, to entrance passage and former
stair hall, all moulded and carved except room right of
entrance.
