Small house. Probably early C17 altered early C19.
Cruck-framed core; pebble-dashed; graduated slate and
composition tile roofs. 2 storeys, 3 windows to 1st floor;
later addition set forward on left (adjoining No.1 Castle
Street, qv). Broad part-glazed door set to right of centre;
6-pane sash on left and 4-pane sashes to right and to 1st
floor. 6 stone gutter blocks. Addition on left is taller and
has boarded doors to square-headed vehicle entrance below
4-pane sash with projecting sill; end stack on right.
INTERIOR: ground-floor ceiling has 3 cambered, transverse
beams and common joists all in oak. Central cruck truss
partially exposed; remains of another at left end.
