II
Entrance archway to former drive to Compton Park House (q.v).
Early C19, for Penruddocke family. Dressed limestone. Gothic-
style moulded pointed archway with flanking square turrets;
roundels either side of arch with Penruddocke arms or date 1658,
battlemented parapet over arch. Larger of two turrets, to right,
has lancets and string course to upper stage with battlemented
parapet. Left hand turret has lancets and battlemented parapet,
buttress to left with offsets. Lodge formerly attached to left,
now demolished.
