Former manor house. Mid-late C16 for Edward Hemings;
considerable later alterations including 2 storey extension to
east. Red brick, mostly colourwashed and part plastered to rear;
roof of modern concrete pantiles. 3 storeys. Windows mainly
small pane casements; east wall with one original 6-light window
with rusticated plaster surround; original crowstepped gable end
to north: blocked attic window with moulded brick head, blocked
circular opening above and part of moulded brick head of original
ground floor window. Crowstepped south gable end rebuilt mid C19
in yellow-white brick: sash windows with glazing bars, flat brick
arches; doorway with 6-panel door, raised and fielded panels,
rectangular fanlight; Bedingfield coat of arms at first floor
level. Originally 2 external stacks to west, only one surviving
(partly rebuilt).
