Bridge and attached gateway. c1873 gateway; the bridge probably earlier C19. Red sandstone rubble; wrought-iron gates. The bridge has a single-span round arch of dressed voussoirs; parapet walls splay and terminate in simple end piers except at link with the embankment wall to Abbey Vale (qv); chamfered ashlar copings. Gateway: double gates set across the bridge carriageway have spiked dog bars with cross bracing and curved top rails with barbed finials. Iron posts with matching finials; radial side panels overhang bridge parapet. Included for group value.
