Large house. 1913-14. For Vickers Ltd. Coursed limestone with
ashlar dressings, graduated slate roof. 2 storeys, 5 windows
to 1st floor. 2 parallel ranges offset so as to form
re-entrant angles at each end. Garden front: large quoins;
off-centre doorway flanked by single-storey 4x1-light bay
windows with mullions, transoms and stained-glass transom
lights beneath oversailing, embattled parapets with string
courses. 1st floor has paired and single sashes with
stained-glass upper lights; central stair-window with 2
transoms and stained glass. Chamfered eaves band, shaped
kneelers and ashlar gable copings; corniced end stacks.
Entrance front is less regular and has C20 door within broad
segmental arch with keystone and hoodmould; 3-light mullioned
windows above and corbelled lateral stack on left; various
other windows, mostly plain sashes. In re-entrant angle on
left is a small 3x1-light bay window in style of others.
INTERIOR: some oak panelling, oak staircase.
