House. c1600. Exposed timber-framing with peg-tiled roof. 2
storeys. C20 lattice paned, metal framed casement windows. 2
bays and 2 cell plan with rear lateral stack, integral with
the frame and with fireplaces on both floors. Original front
door opening on E side of central post blocked, house now
entered through C20 rear extension. Exterior framing somewhat
altered in C20 but first floor straight tension bracing at
corners and at central storey post original. Stud frequency
was at 2 feet centre intervals. INTERIOR: roof trapped side
purlin type. Principal bridging joists have lamb's tongue
chamfer stops and common joists are deep sectioned with
diminished haunched soffit tenons. Site of stair and access
between two cells at rear though present staircase C20. A
second later stair trap cut through the E end. C20 - extension
to E and large outshut to N with plastic weatherboarding and
bow window.
