Terrace of 4 semi-detached linked villas. On slope of hill.
Street laid out in 1832 by John Booth, and his son, also John,
Surveyors for the Lloyd Baker Estate. Gold stock bricks set in
Flemish bond with stucco dressings, and stucco pediment over
each pair; gabled roofs, materials obscured by parapet; centre
brick stacks. Side-hall entrance plan to outer linked bay of
each house except no. 44 which has porticoed side entrance to
left-hand return wall in Granville Street. Restrained Greek
Revival style. Two-storeys with basements; 2 windows each
including recessed 1-window entrance bay coupled as link. Low
steps rise to deeply recessed stucco entrance with antae
supporting entablature surmounted by C20 reproduction iron
balcony railings except no. 44 (with coupled antae portico and
no railings). Architraved panelled doorway. Architraved 8/8
sashes throughout; 1st floor recessed balconied links with
narrower doors or sashes except no. 44 (projecting on roof of
portico). Plain stucco band beneath pediments; stucco parapet
with stone coping or blocking course to 1st floor recessed
link. Attached iron railings.
