House. Late C18, altered C20. Sandstone ashlar facade with
ashlar dressings, and sides and rear of watershot coursed
sandstone. Slate roof. Rectangular double-depth plan, built
gable to road, facing north.
2 storeys and 2 bays, symmetrical. Gothick style. Plinth,
chamfered quoins, bracketed cornice and embattled parapet, and
4-centred arched openings; the former central doorway, which
has been altered as a window, has a deep double-chamfered
surround and a hoodmould, the 2 windows on each floor have
hollow-chamfered surrounds, and all are sashed, with
intersecting glazing bars. The roof has an attic dormer
concealed by the parapet, and gable chimneys. In the
right-hand side wall (to the road) is the present entrance, a
4-centred arched doorway with a small chamfer on an otherwise
plain surround, with a hoodmould above it, and over this a
tall stair window in matching style, with Y-tracery. The rear
has inter alia a large later 2-storey canted bay, with windows
sashed without glazing bars.
