House, now doctors' surgery. Late C18, altered C19 and
restored c1980. Sandstone ashlar with slate roof. Double-depth
plan.
A symmetrical composition of 2 storeys above cellars and 5
bays, with a cornice and with a parapet with coping. The
windows are sashed without glazing bars and have plain reveals
and projecting sills. The cellar openings are mostly glazed.
The doorway has a lugged stone architrave and a pediment. The
overlight has glazing bars with a curved intersecting design,
and the door has 6 raised and fielded panels. It is approached
up 4 steps with nosings and with iron railings. Chimneys on
gables, the left-hand one of brick and the right-hand one
rendered.
INTERIOR: the arch between the front hall and the stair hall
springs from fluted Doric pilasters. The dogleg stair has an
open string, 3 turned balusters per tread, turned newels, a
ramped handrail, and terminates with a cur-tail.
