Pair of cottages. C16/C17 or earlier with later alterations and additions.
Timber framed and plastered or rough rendered, red brick right return. Red plain
tiled roof. Right ridge and left rear red brick chimney stacks. Plastered rear
wing. 2 storeys with single storey left extension. 1:2 window range of various
casements with glazing bars, those to right C19. Central paired doors, simple
surrounds. The ground floor of the right cottage has a circa 1600 moulded
plaster ceiling of 4 panels divided by a chamfered bridging joist supported by a
carved and moulded jowled storey post. Each panel with a margin of fruit and
foliage, central shield of arms and symmetrically placed fleur de Lis, roses and
flowers. Intact frame throughout with stop chamfered bridging joists flat
section ceiling beams and jowled storey posts. Similar frame to 2 bay rear
wing. 2 C19 cast iron fire surrounds to first floor. Vertically boarded doors
with original ironmongery.
