10/76 Lamp standard set
on garden wall
opposite junction
with Mansfield Road

Lamp standard. Early C19. Sandstone with cast-iron finial. Square plinth
block to tapered column with domed top surmounted by small ball finial with
out-curled leaves. Originally supported a bracket and oil lamp which provided
street lighting prior to the introduction of gas street lamps in 1833. Thought
to be the only surviving example in Rotherham.
