Bridge. 1832-33. Horizontally-tooled, deeply-coursed magnesian limestone.
Single span. Rusticated segmental arch set in a curve and springing from
vertical abutment walls. Band above arch links to projecting end piers of
parapet which has domed copings. Best of several small bridges that are
probably original to the Doncaster-Selby road as turnpiked following an act
of 6th June, 1832.
Copy of the Doncaster-Selby turnpike statute in Doncaster Library Service
Archives, King Edwards Road, Balby.
