Gate piers with linking walls. Probably c1786 and by John Carr for Joseph
Walker (i.e. contemporary with Eastwood House, demolished 1920s). Ashlar
sandstone. Two end piers with curved walls linking to pair of more elaborate
gate piers, gates removed. Continuous plinth. Each pier has monolithic,
rusticated shaft with sunken panel in raised strip on front face, fluting
beneath band. End piers have domed top. Gate piers have frieze with paterae
and cornice surmounted by carved bowls (reset). Left pier inscribed 'EASTWOOD',
right pier inscribed 'HOUSE'. Square-cut copings to linking walls.
