1865, by J Gibson. Distinguished, single-storeyed building of Portland stone in rich, classical style. Long frontage with entrance at rounded south-west corner. Arched windows. Order of engaged Corinthian columns, paired at each end. Panels of figure carving in high relief above windows. Blocking to entablature supports standing figures, singly and in groups. Fine, top lit banking hall with three domes. Arcaded walls with high relief panels of figures above and marble Corinthian columns singly and in pairs also in two groups of four at either end of hall.
