1833-4 by Philip Hardwick. Painted stone front in severe classical style. 2,
high storeys plus basement and blind attic. 7 windows. High, balustraded wall
to front area with pair of lamps on stuccoed pedestals flanking entrance steps.
Channelled ground storey with flat hood to doorway supported on festooned consoles.
Order of Doric pilasters to 1st floor with pedimented windows enriched at centre.
Bracketed main cornice and panelled and pilastered attic. Rear elevation, of 2
storeys above a basement. Yellow brick with painted dressings. 3 huge Venetian
windows with order of Ionic columns and pilasters, (the cornice continued across
the elevation) and glazed tympana the full width of the openings. 5 small windows
above. Plain cornice and blocking. Painted balustrade to area. Good staircase
etc inside.
