north-west of Alveston Hill
Farmhouse

GV II

Barn and attached range of farm buildings. Built after
enclosure of 1772 and before deed of 1797. Brick with tile
roof. L-plan.
8-bay barn with 2 threshing floors and long lower range
projecting from west end of south side. North side has 2
threshing floor entrances with C20 doors; south side has
similar entrances with 2 ventilation panels between, the right
end with segmental-headed stable entrance, window and pitching
hole. South range has covered cartway adjoining barn and
several entrances to east side.
INTERIOR: has brick piers to tie beam and collar trusses with
raking queen struts, clasped purlins and halved and crossed
ends. South range has brick partition walls and trusses
similar to those in barn.
Part of an interesting example of an enclosure farmstead.
